‘It’s Better to Laugh Than Cry’
I woke up thinking about early homesteading, and how each of our lives are changing dramatically while staying home to flatten the curve. I did a little research, read a really great article about early homesteading, and thought to myself, NOPE, that’s definitely not what’s happening here. Then I switched over to modern homesteading, which for most of us, is also not what’s happening- BUT, I did glean a great old quote from the article. It’s better to laugh than cry, which is what we all need to try to do during the next month or so for the betterment of our own little homesteads.
If you have a moment, Bridget Foley’s interview with Phillip Lim is worth a read. He has some great thoughts on protecting the smaller design brands. They lead fashion, and could really use the help from larger corporations during this time. Canceled orders are squeezing the life out of fledgling companies. His thoughts on reprioritization and resetting of what’s important echo those of Li Edelkoort (her interview can be found in last week’s entry).
Curate your time. If you’re game for a little DIY or wellness, Peclers has pulled together a great collection of tutorials and live sessions to take advantage of. Kelly Wearstler is offering an interior design masterclass, and The Kennedy Center offers free videos of their performances, and online education. Their Mo Willems Daily Doodle class is a favorite of my daughter Mirabelle’s- she asked if he could come over to babysit this week. You can also take advantage of Yale's most popular class, currently available free online - imagine earning a certificate in The Science of Well-Being?! I’m hoping to enjoy a few of these learning opportunities during the next few days, and hope you can too.
Stay well & please reach out if you need anything!
